PlateauO is a large scale, modular sofa that creates spacious, flexible and personalised outdoor settings. Taking cues from contemporary architecture, the sofa's form features clean lines and geometric shapes to complement its natural surroundings. 

The collection comprises of a sophisticated palette of materials with the choice of solid natural teak or hand finished ceramics. 

The modular design allows you to customize the sofa’s layout, easily reconfiguring it to suit different seating arrangements and preferences or expand with additional modules over time.  

*New to the collection is the sunlounge seating cushion. Easily transform the standard flat seat into an angled sunlounge with back support. No mechanisms required - Simply place the Omni Positional Backrest underneath the headrest.   

Movable backrests and modular shelf inserts offer flexibility and personalization, and convenience in terms of support and comfort. All cushions and shelf inserts are easily detachable for storage or maintenance and cleaning.

Styling and Concept 

Plateau is a large-scale sofa. As a package, the substantial modules are designed to create an impressive centrepiece for spacious outdoor areas. 

Modules used individually can fit in smaller spaces, such as balconies and courtyards. Flexible backrest arrangement allows you to utilize the entire footprint of the sofa and is extremely space effective in tight or smaller spaces. 

You can move the seat cushions and teak shelves within the sofa platform to create various layouts, adapting to different seating preferences and desired shelf placements. 

The movable backrests allow you to place them anywhere, offering flexibility and personalization. Removed, the sofa can be used as a daybed or sunlounge. Move the backrest to support upright or lounging positions or place in the middle of the sofa to create double facing settings. 

The sofa's square shape and inset legs give it a modern and "floating" appearance. Its elevated height makes it easy to clean underneath, allowing for hassle-free removal of leaves and debris. 

Taking cues from contemporary architecture, the sofa's form elegantly complements the beauty of its natural surroundings. The PlateauO sofa range is available in signature KingCote® finishes Salt, Rock and Earth and is backed by the King Outdoor Warranty.

 Design Features
 

1. Movable Backrests

The movable backrests allow you to place them anywhere, offering flexibility, personalization, and convenience in terms of support and comfort. This allows you to utilize the entire footprint of the sofa. Move the backrest to support upright or lounging positions or place in the middle of the sofa to create a double facing setting. The backrests are weighted, with a grip fabric base to avoid slipping when in use. 

1. Movable platform shelves 

Platform shelves on the P2480 module can be placed right-hand, left-hand, or split on either side of the cushion. They are freestanding inserts that can be moved freely, adapting to different seating preferences and desired shelf placement. They can be placed in the centre of the P2480 module if purchased with two square C1000 cushions on either side. 

3. Sunlounge Seat Cushions 

Seat cushions with fabric hinges allows easy transformability of the flat seat into an angled sunlounge with back support. No mechanisms required - Simply place the Omni Positional Backrest underneath the headrest.   

4. Reticulated Outdoor foam 

Cushions have been designed with quick-drying reticulated outdoor foam, a new weather-resistant technology for the KING outdoor range. Water drains freely through the cushion fabric and foam and exits through the base. This outdoor-specific foam promotes breathability, enhancing airflow and ventilation of cushions, and therefore is less resistant to mold and mildew. A benefit for longevity and ease of maintenance. 

5. Easily Detachable Parts 

Backrests and seat cushions are freestanding and simply picked up to detach for storage or cleaning. The seat cushions are constructed with magnets sewn into the cover that attach to the steel frame, to stop cushion corners from lifting. 

6. Spring system
   Seat cushions are made with KingCell pocket springs, for longevity and comfort. 

7. Removable covers
   The upholstered seat cover can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement.
    

Maintenance Tips
Recommended to place in covered, or semi-covered outdoor areas for ease of maintenance. 

Cover furniture with a weatherguard between outdoor seasons, or when furniture is not in use. 

Sunlounge Cushion should be returned to its flat position when not in use. 

Dust off dirt and debris from the cushions with a soft brush. The detachable cushions allow easy access for sweeping debris from the frame. 

We recommend a fortnightly hose down of your cushions or as required. Follow our fabric guide for information on outdoor fabric cleaning. 

During the outdoor season, weekly cleaning of teak components is recommended. Sweep furniture with a soft hand brush and clean with mild (pH-neutral) soapy water and a microfiber cloth or sponge. Hose the furniture to keep the teak wet as possible, and wipe in the direction of the wood grain during cleaning. 

If teak is exposed to outdoor elements, it will gradually develop a beautiful silver-grey patina. This is a natural characteristic of the timber that strengthens its natural defenses against external elements over time. The rate that weathering occurs depends on climate, exposure to outdoor weather, and commitment to care and maintenance. Despite this, weathered teak can be restored to its original appearance with deep cleaning and maintenance of the protective coating.
