WOOD PLASTIC COMPOSITE (WPC)

WOOD PLASTIC COMPOSITE (WPC)

Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) is a category of material that combines timber production waste with a thermoplastic such as Polypropylene (PP).

WPC sustainably leverages the properties of both timber and plastic to make a high performance material with applications both indoors and outdoors.

Raw materials are developed using different ratios of timber waste and thermoplastic pellets. The ratio of timber to plastic can be precisely adjusted to influence the performance of the production components. For example, a higher percentage of timber increases stiffness but reduces ductility.

The malleable properties of thermoplastics allow WPC to be injection moulded and extruded. Existing injection moulding tools can often be used to produce WPC parts without any additional upfront investment cost.
