Aura plug in light create a new master item in system to make the future process simpler. Mina will communicate with Hussain on wiki updates once name confirmed and the process we will follow with timings.

100 pcs initial stock pieces and Michele to work together with Yoshi for purchase order. Flock still being worked out, but estimate for production quantities (possibly 2nd PO). After that hand over completely to Michele.

Not suitable to add light colour update at this late stage. Looking to see if the supplier has an option to change from ‘cool to warm’ light and can’t implement possibly integrate with Home Automation Systems - this will cost $300K, Dylan need to discuss with SLT. Coffey also possibly has an option but with King App is preference. DK has requested that we don’t do the expensive option, possibly a King Lighting App only which is managed by someone else.

Mina and Jordan should start discussions with Infinite luxe and research other companies for price/feature comparisons to ensure we know what we’re talking about with Coffey. @Mina Bassilious (Unlicensed) will speak to Dylan about white label apps that we can possibly rebrand as well. Then we can go back to DK with 3 options, no brand, rebrand and Ingenuity.

In terms of production readiness for flock is very much PO dependent. Mina will push Yoshi to send purchase order once design is finalised.

Costings arrived, send to Michele, but still awaiting tooling so won’t chase pricing team just yet.

WINTER- even with airfreight will be late due to production lead time. Product sample not completed yet.

DK meeting happened, a lot of feedback from DK which has changed the course and brief.

Weight is important (consider plastic or reduce alu material). Mechanical vertical movement mech remote operation direction now (single ceiling point), Jordan will start the conversation with Coffey. App integration is dumbed down for cost purposes- see above (Solaire).

@jordan will did some work on the modular version to explain to DK the number of wires visible and complexity of electrician set up. Will render one version and send to DK. Idea is individual pendants that magnetise together but are powered separately (electrician joins in ceiling to use one switch on the wall). Need an end cap- put aside until gap in firefly timeline.

Prototype had issues and it wasn’t great. Mina will make new steel prototype to verify the comfort and folding mechanism. Verifying strength in aluminium will be very tricky. Asking Engineers, hopefully there’s some help available there, but will be theoretical.

After prototype of steel, awaiting Allan for sling cover. Cover test with press studs on steel sample.

Plan to go to prototype tooling ASAP (after 1 month extrusion tooling ready). This then needs to tested in press tools, with aluminium bounce back would expect issues, but minimal 2 weeks for tweaking. This is with press tool starting at same time as extrusion tooling.

Welding testing with off tool samples for aesthetics, strength and manufacturability after extrusion tool completed.

Even minimising the sling cover prototyping time (1 week) we are in early september for production start. Even if we start tooling after quoting immediately, we are still mid July for off tool components.

Need to work out using off tool components all the small mechs at this point as well.

Even if we buy off the shelf extrusion, we need to make 4 weeks for press tool + 2 weeks for tweaking.

Mina not interested in weeks of workshop time to make the photoshoot items which will not be useful for product release and will slow that down.

Coupling feature for the tension rods, Mina has designed a good concept, will speak to Alinta/Shiyang on moulding capabilities of it.

@Mina Bassilious (Unlicensed) designing the middle pivot point feature- has designed 2 options, one is push fit risky as might not be rattle free and tight enough hold. The Screw fit concept is complex assembly and manufacturing process but tight once in position. We prefer press fit knock-in method.

Order the extrusion tooling after discussing with Engineers.

Mina will start quotation process for extrusion tooling today to try to speed up the tooling start time if we make no changes.

Roof structure- redesigned- DK happy.

Sun lounge frame for GL - this week do CAD or otherwise to send to Shiyang. Almost there, complete 30/05.

Cabana seat cushion reticulated seat with mesh cover (no glue) completed. DK liked it. Mesh cover seems a success so far. Hot glue to provide extra strength to hold. - costing before end of the week. Possibly high costs in the mesh, hot glue only is the back up plan but harder for the factory.

Powder coat samples arrived into TH. Gloss level wrong, ask Nan to take middle sample from GL (varying GL versions) get supplier to match. DK happy with a higher gloss level sample but Alinta will continue to push the TH team to get a GL match as well.

@Alinta Lim will check with James P. about whether the TH outdoor foam is suitable.

Knock-ins will be tooled in China- Shiyang is okay on that.

Travel- Thailand. Maybe next week Alinta will know.

Frame design is happening with DK in TH.

Charles wants to update the comfort of the inside of the occasional chair, DK has approved the process start. Trying to get Charles to manage the prototyping process.

Super soft foam exploration

SOFA GENERAL

DK wants to explore using a super soft foam which is high density to replace dacron in some circumstances. Seen it at Cassina.

The team found a foam to replace LT48, rejected because they didn’t understand the purpose of the foam, as a backup supplier. It wasn’t as good as LT48 so they rejected it. Perhaps they misunderstood the brief.

Tanya to ask DK for more details.

@Tanya Rechberger discuss with Michele and DK re the designer and priority of DKs new sofa design. Also ask MD for foam sample from Italy if possible.

Plastic injection moulding for legs underway- due in GL 7th May, 2 weeks for veneering. Due in Thailand 29th May. Have not shipped out yet, won’t ship out from GL until mid June. Shouldn’t negatively impact customer timelines. Plastic legs fit well, after welding jigs were corrected.

First production week in TH at the latest 2325- June 12th. Tight turnaround on production but after off tool leg test was successful, don’t anticipate issues. Ponti to communicate to Shiyang that can’t afford any more leg delays or GL will be the cause of further delay.

Email sent to Frank/Joseph asking about upcoming orders and lead times required. They are aware but limited feedback from them.

Pattern making updates from DK in TH hopefully finished next week. Small tweaks underway.

Requested packaging testing, awaiting feedback.

Requested die lines for die lines in order to start packaging artwork, awaiting Shiyang.

Working on multiple avenues at the moment, custom supplier parts and in house version. DK pushed for in house again, Shiyang has big concerns which have been communicated with DK.

Mechanisms have been ordered.

DK signed off on 90 degree timber veneer and on table mechanisms.

Ponti followed up with Ivy whether the factory will have all required parts and components on hand the moment that the prototype is signed off. Will also ask Ivy if there is any way to speed up the prototype and production, they agreed to try as much as possible.

Had some supplier hiccups on timeline issues currently looking at 3-4 weeks late for UK, CA- 2-3 weeks late, VicQld 1-2 weeks late. Will assess again closer to the and do our best to claw time back.

Prototype time 6.5 weeks which has begun, quotation approved, approx $1000 higher than the fixed table. Payment for sample has been processed. UZ prototype expected due date is July 10-16th. June 24th is new sample date from speedy new Shanghai supplier, but we don’t have as much faith in this version. It’s a back up plan. They have signed NDA and agreement already.

Leo/Frank and Sheng not required yet to go down to help brief UZ. Meeting with full group including Quality, to get everyone up to speed and hand over all tasks, action items will be emailed out by Ryan today. Feedback to come of exactly which test standards for this part. First products will likely be shipped without testing for speed, but testing on matching parts once on water.

Ponti meeting with Tony D. as well to manage number of drivers for lift etc. Will ask Tony to pass onto his team members (Michele opt. invite). Already discussed with Michele regarding weights, minimum 4 person, possibly 6 person lift. UZ to provide weight possibly.

Starting on motor addition, purchasing at GL have ordered custom linear actuator for slide mech., rotational motor still in discussions.

Latest quotes from UZ home for manual extension table are walnut $2974 AUD and $2345 AUD for Congo/Smoked oak. Shangsheng is approx. $400 cheaper for walnut version.

Shiyang currently working on the gas light/catch component for the nice to have feature.

Samples with suppliers soon, currently reviewing Yabo drawings, so far suitable. DK has approved with improvements to the seat inlay. GL to send a steel seat frame to Yabo. Work on the sample from Yabo in GL to improve cover once received.

Plan to have a seat insert manufactured in GL and assembled in Customers home. +/- 3mm tolerance on the chairs is achievable which will assist in this process. Aware it’s very risky and will be putting a lot of work into minimising risk in order to get max benefit.

LIGHT TIMBER COLOUR OPTION/ Master stain update

Trying to create King master colours across the board, as well as new lighter colour.

Pearson has ideas on using Ash instead of Red Oak across the board, it’s cheaper and more durable. Pearson will speak to GL team to get some sampling moving along. Cecco is remaking some samples, Oil based was used instead of water based, so needed to redo. Fingers crossed it will be faster this time (not 6 weeks like last time). Only Cecco currently looking at light timber option as they are our main solid timber supplier and they use the best water based finished.

Veneer sample master underway with one supplier currently. Pearson will follow up. GL purchasing team assisting with this to try to bring all finishes into line together to match colours better.

UZ samples underway to ensure timber finishes from them match.
